National benchmarks were trading with gains on Thursday afternoon, seeking to recoup yesterday’s losses. The S&P BSE Sensex rose over 0.50% to nearly 58,700 while the NSE Nifty 50 hovered around 17,500 levels. Larger markets reflected the rise and were trading in positive territory. As the major indices moved higher, a total of 206 BSE stocks hit their respective 52-week highs, while a total of 85 scripts hit new highs on BSE. Chalet Hotels, Raymond, Torrent Power and Trident were some of the biggest names to reach new heights in BSE.
On fresh highs – lows
Chalet Hotels was among the stocks reaching high values over 52 weeks, along with Carborundum Universal, Esab India, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, Raymond, SIS, TCI Express, Torrent Power, Trident, Triveni Engineering and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra). A total of 206 stocks hit new 52-week highs for BSE. On the other hand, only 11 stocks were trading at new low values over 52 weeks. These included Hero Motorcorp, Nova Publications, Sun Retail, Spandana Sphoorty, CDG Petchem, Colgate Palmolive (India), Milgrey Finance Investment, among others.
On the NSE, 85 scripts were registered to hit new highs in 52 weeks on Thursday. These included 3i Infotech Limited, Bajaj Healthcare, Borosil Renewables, Chalet Hotels, Home First Finance Company, KPI Global Infrastructure, Mtar Technologies, NRB Bearing, among others. 16 stocks were trading at new 52 week lows, however.
Best volume winners
On Thursday, Vodafone Idea established itself as the first volume winner on NSE, as more than 19.44 crore of shares in the telecommunications company moved among investors. This was followed by Tata Power with over 4 crore shares traded.
Newly listed Zomato was the third most active stock by volume, with more than 3.7 crores of the internet company’s shares traded. PNB and Yes Bank were the fourth and fifth most traded stocks by volume, followed by SAIL, Bank of Baroda, Vedanta and Indiabulls Housing Finance.
