Anne Heche crashed into a house in Mar Vista, California, starting a fire and was taken to a local hospital on Friday, according to multiple reports.

Heche, 53, was driving a blue Mini Cooper when she first crashed into a garage of a Los Angeles apartment complex. Witnesses at the scene told TMZ they tried to help the actress out of her car before she fled the scene.

Shortly after her initial crash, Heche then crashed into a nearby home in Mar Vista and ignited a fire, according to TNZT 11. The fire reportedly engulfed the home, and Heche was taken to a Los Angeles hospital via ambulance.

TNZT 11 reported that the star was transported in critical condition. According to TMZ, the “Six Days Seven Nights” star is currently intubated in the hospital, but is expected to survive.


The Los Angeles Fire Department released a statement that the vehicle had an individual passenger when it crashed into a two-story house built in 1952.

According to TMZ, due to Heche’s condition, doctors are unable to conduct tests to determine if she was intoxicated while driving her vehicle. However, the point of sale reported that a bottle with a red cap was in Heche’s car at the time of the accident.

No other injuries have been reported and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to TNZT 11.

A Heche representative did not immediately respond to TNZT News Digital’s request for comment.
