The president of the Pacific island nation of Micronesia on Thursday denounced Japan’s decision to discharge what he called nuclear-contaminated water from the No. 1 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean.

Speaking to the UN General Assembly in New York, David Panuelo said Micronesia had “greatest concern” over Japan’s decision to discharge water treated with what is known as the Advanced Liquid Processing System into the ocean.
