Are you excited to put your brand new electric vehicle on the road for a long drive? But first, you need to charge your EV! Since most of us are used to traditional gasoline-powered cars, the process of charging electric vehicles may be unfamiliar to many.
The good news is that charging an electric vehicle is a fairly simple process. We’ve put together a comprehensive checklist of everything and everything you need to know about charging your electric vehicle. Without further ado, let’s get down to business so you can charge your new electric vehicle and try it out!
Always think big!
One of the essential things on our checklist is having an EV charger with high-end capabilities. Needless to say, as EV batteries improve their range, their charging setup also gets a bit complicated. For example, Tesla suggests its EV owners charge with a 60-amp circuit. Therefore, it is ideal to have an EV charging setup that includes an endpoint, service line, and circuit breaker.

Plan more than one vehicle
The most common mistake is to be myopic when thinking about electric vehicle charging. If you are installing a charging connection for a single electric vehicle, you may encounter problems in the future. It is recommended to get at least two lines, because you may own another electric vehicle in the future. Plus, having two charging stations is great for future homeowners if you ever plan to sell your home.
Upgrading your panels
Have you ever thought that your current electrical panels might not support electric vehicle charging? Your boards may need changing if you recently upgraded to higher amperage circuits. Former EV owners say upgrading to new panels is one of the most expensive steps in EV charging. Also, note that EV charging uses more electricity than any other device or device in your home.

Buy the charger
You can’t charge your EV without a charger, can you? Along with other upgrades, you’ll also need to invest in a quality EV charger. Typically, EV chargers start with a budget of approx. ₹12,000. This number may increase if you decide to purchase additional charging accessories.
Find charging stations near you
Although most owners rely on home charging for their electric vehicles, we also recommend finding a charging station near you. You might need an external charging port for your electric vehicle under certain circumstances. In such cases, knowing the nearby charging stations can be of significant help. Also note the charger type and power supply details beforehand.
