A further 25 deaths of people with Covid-19 have been reported today in New Zealand, as well as 4,790 new community cases, with the moving average of cases continuing to fall.
The seven-day moving average of the number of community cases is 5608 today, compared to 7405 this time last week.
In today’s statement, the health ministry said 648 people were hospitalized, up from 605 yesterday, with 19 in ICU.
The ministry said a total of 1,638 people have now died from Covid-19.
Among the 25 new deaths of people with the coronavirus, four are people in their 60s, six in their seventies, nine in their eighties and six over the age of 90. Fifteen women and nine men.
Two were from Northland, five were from Auckland area, four were from Waikato, three were from Bay of Plenty, one was from Lakes, one was from Taranaki, one was from MidCentral, two were from Whanganui, one was from Wellington area , two were from Nelson Marlborough, two were from South Canterbury, one was from Southern.
There were 5,296 new cases of Covid-19 reported yesterday, as well as a further 19 deaths from the virus.
There are now a total of 1,639,058 cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
