Death investigation underway after body found on beach in Highland Park


LAKE FOREST, Illinois (TNZT) — The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force continues its investigation after a man was found dead Saturday morning in the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve.

Authorities said that around 5:10 a.m., Highland Park police were dispatched to the 0-100 block of Cliff Road for a report of an unconscious person on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Upon arrival, police found the man who was pronounced dead.

The location of the incident was determined to be Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve, located at 117 Sheridan Road, in the unincorporated Lake Forest.

Preliminary investigations show that a 45-year-old man, who lives in the area, went outside around 1 a.m. to talk to people who were noisy on the lake shore. .

The two other men involved in the confrontation, 20 and 18, both suffered injuries in the confrontation. Both men were taken to hospital with their injuries and are in talks with investigators, according to police.

Police say there is no threat to the community but advise individuals to avoid Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve while the investigation continues.

The Lake County Forest Preserve Police Department has called in the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force over injuries to the man’s body.
