Ellen Pompeo thinks Grey’s Anatomy should be ‘less preachy’

Ellen Pompeo may be less seen in Grey’s Anatomy season 19, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to stop expressing her thoughts about how the show is moving forward.

In a recent episode of her podcast Tell me with Ellen Pompeo, the Grey’s Anatomy star said she would love it if the medical drama continued to focus on social justice throughout the series, rather than covering important topics with individual very special episodes.

“I think if I had a wish, frankly, it would be to be less preachy about certain things in one episode,” Pompeo said, per People. “It’s like we’re doing an episode about, let’s see… Asian hate crime is one we did last season that was really moving. I think I’d like to see things happen a little more subtly and over time.”

According to the publication, Pompeo will appear in just eight episodes in Season 19, although she will still serve as the series’ executive producer and weekly narrator.

But as they start raising her with their three biological children, they slowly begin to believe that she may not be who she says she is. As they question her story, they are confronted with their own difficult questions about how far they are willing to go to defend themselves, in a battle that is fought in the tabloids, the courtroom and ultimately their marriage.
