Former India fly-half Shikhar Dhawan appears to be enjoying his time away from the cricket pitch, but on Thursday ‘Gabbar’, as his fans affectionately call him, took to social media and shared some glimpses of his recent session online with his fans.

The southpaw was overlooked in the recent five-game series against South Africa, with coaches opting instead for relative newcomers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan with regulars Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul sidelined.

Dhawan also missed selection for the upcoming UK white ball tour, which begins with two matches against Ireland, followed by the England tour.

This, despite having another stellar IPL 2022 campaign with Punjab Kings (PBKS), where he scored 460 points in 14 games for Punjab Kings.

Despite the snub, Dhawan appeared to be in good spirits as he headed for the nets, and in his own words the cricket “brought him a smile”.

Sharing a photo and video of himself sweating it out in the net, Dhawan seems unfazed by the recent developments and is ready to put in the hard work to get back into contention for the India team.

After the veteran southpaw shared his video, his fans on Instagram flooded the comment section as many users got nostalgic because they wanted Dhawan back in Team India.

Recently, legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar was asked about Dhawan’s chances of making India’s T20 World Cup squad, to which he replied bluntly.

“No. I don’t see his name popping up. If he had to pop up he would have been in that team. A lot of guys went to England and he could have been in that team. If he’s not in that team, I don’t see him finishing in the mix (for the T20 World Cup),” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
