Rishabh Pant was visibly moved after the Delhi Capitals suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League’s second qualifying round on Wednesday. After scoring just 135/5, the Delhi Capitals bowlers kept their team in the chase with regular hitting late in the KKR chase. KKR lost six wickets for seven runs in just over three overs as the game reached the last six deliveries. Rahul Tripathi hit a six from Ravichandran Ashwin in the penultimate performance of the match to win the match for KKR. After the game Rishabh Pant, a discouraged Delhi Capitals skipper, said his team never stopped believing in it and tried to stay in the competition for as long as they could.
“I can’t change anything after the game. We always kept believing and stayed in the game as long as possible. The bowlers took it out. They played really well in the middle of the overs. We were stuck and unable to turn the strike, ”Pant said during the post-game presentation.
Pant added that he wants to get stronger and better next season and make a fortune.
“I hope we can come back clean last year for a stronger season. We have been playing cricket very well throughout the season. We have stayed together and looked after each other. I hope. that we will improve next year and come back strong, ”Pant concluded.
In the game, the Delhi Capitals were only able to manage a total of 135 for five in their allocated 20 overs after being batted by Eoin Morgan.
In response, despite a dramatic setback, KKR managed to cross the line and seal a place in the 2021 IPL final.
The two-time champions will now face the Chennai Super Kings of MS Dhoni in the T20 league final in Dubai on Friday.
