Nathan Crimp claimed the Guinness World Record for the most pubs visited as an individual in 24 hours when he drank in 67 different bars in his hometown of Brighton, England, according to UPI on Friday.

Remarkably, he only needed 17 hours.

The ambitious journey began at 11 a.m. on September 16 and ended at 4 a.m. the following day. Crimp, a recruiting account manager, had friends Ollie and Archie with him on the 18-mile circuit. Still, it was hard to drink that much in such a short time.

“It was easily the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Crimp said.

“I totally underestimated how difficult it would actually be. … To drink so much liquid in such a short time – I must have easily stashed away 20 to 30 liters. The hardest part was having to go to the toilet all the time, which took up most of the time.”

Guinness requires applicants from the most visited pubs to have a drink in each pub in 24 hours, collect receipts and witness autographs. Until Guinness judges Crimp’s efforts, Wales’ Gareth Murphy remains the current record holder, with 56 pubs in 24 hours.

Crimp completed the quest to raise money for Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest shelter charity. His own Staffordshire bull terrier named Kara who died of cancer in 2020 was adopted through the organization.

Crimp made just over half of his target of about $1,140.

“I have to say a huge thank you to Ollie and Archie, who came with me,” Crimp told the Echo. “When I was too puffed up to talk, it was they who told the pub what we were doing. I couldn’t have finished it without them.”
