Man shoots and kills his mother as they argued over groceries, Missouri police say

Missouri police said a 22-year-old man was arguing with his mother while they were storing groceries when he shot her.

Authorities say Tony Martin Jr. carried a gun around their home on Sept. 21 — the same day of the fatal altercation, according to a press release from the St. Louis County Police Department.

Sometime during the altercation, Christy Martin touched her son’s arm in an attempt to turn him over, police said in a statement of probability.

Police officers were called to the Northwoods home at about 10:45 a.m. and they found Christy Martin dead at the scene.

According to the press release, officers seized the weapon, a casing and a projectile.

Tony Martin Jr. was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and armed criminal action, police said. He is being held on $250,000 cash only, no 10% security deposit.
