Manik Saha will be sworn in as Tripura CM today


Agartala: Manik Saha will be sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Tripura today. The swearing-in ceremony of the Council of Ministers will take place at 11:30 a.m. on May 15 at Raj Bhawan, Agartala.

Dr Saha, 69, who is an MP for Rajya Sabha, was appointed leader of the BJP legislative party hours after Deb resigned.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Biplab Kumar Deb resigned from his post on Saturday. After tendering his resignation to the state governor Satyadeo Narain Arya, he said he had wholeheartedly served the people of the state.

Deb was sworn in as the first chief minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura in 2018.

Tripura will go to the polls in March next year.
