Millions receive one-time direct payment in less than two weeks


MILLIONS of Americans will receive payouts of up to $1,050 starting next month.

The gas refunds will be available to Californians from October to January 2023, for those who filed taxes before October 2021.

The one-time gas fee comes after Governor Gavin Newsom struck a deal with lawmakers in June 2022, amid the peak of inflation.

This current initiative is part of a $9.5 million dollar tax refund that ABC7 says will make payments to individuals of up to $1,050.

Gas in the state is about a dollar a gallon more expensive this year compared to 2021, FOX11 said.

On average, Southern California gas price is now $6 a gallon, the news outlet reported.

At its highest point, gas was $7 in major cities like Los Angeles.

To be eligible, recipients of the one-time payment must have filed their 2020 tax returns by 2021.

An income cap of $150,000 per year sits above the payment.

Those who qualify can expect payment between October and January.
