Myopia among Japanese children worsening, ministry survey finds

The axial length of children’s eyes in Japan, or their length from front to back, has lengthened with age, a sign of the progression of myopia, a survey by the Ministry of Education revealed on Thursday.

The survey also showed that children’s uncorrected vision gradually worsened as they progressed through the school years, with the phenomenon being particularly prominent among girls.
