Nicole Kidman Reveals the Surprising Reason Growing Up With a Pale Complexion Inspired Her to Become an Actress

Nicole Kidman is known for her porcelain complexion.

But as a child growing up in scorching Australia, she was often forced to stay home, indoors, while other children played on the beach in the midday sun.

Avoiding sunburn led the 54-year-old to create her own fun, which involved performing Russian writer Anton Chekhov’s plays.

“I played all the roles in Chekhov – in my bedroom, at all hours, day and night,” she told US radio journalist Terry Gross this week.

“I had no idea this was going to lead me to my calling,” she added.

Nicole relies on a combination of daily sunscreen, multi-tasking makeup and beauty supplements to ensure she protects her pale face.

“As a fair-skinned girl, I’ve been wearing sunscreen since I was a kid,” she recently told Harper’s Bazaar.

Nicole is a big fan of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Broad Spectrum SPF100+ Sunscreen for her face every day, even if it’s cloudy.

Elsewhere on her face, the star said she was strict about removing makeup and cleaning herself twice every night.

But if she has a late night or has been traveling, Nicole isn’t averse to using a cleansing wipe to make things quick and easy.

Nicole also likes to mix high-end and low-end skincare products:

‘La Mer crème is my favourite, but I also like Aquaphor. It costs nothing,’ she told Allure.

The actress mixes and matches the $250 moisturizer with the budget staple to achieve her dewy look.
