Police investigate vacant building fire after report of squatters

MINNEAPOLIS — A supposedly vacant building in downtown Minneapolis was damaged by a fire Monday morning.

Crews who arrived at the scene saw eight to 10 people run from the four-story building, along with sheets and extension cords used to escape.

The fire brigade has extinguished the fire on the third floor and is still investigating how it started.

No one was injured, but police are now involved as officials say several squatters tried to get back inside.
