An investigation is underway to identify a man who was found dead on a road in the southern Auckland suburb of Favona in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Wakefield Road at around 3.30am after the body was found.
A police spokesperson said investigations were underway to establish how the man died, including speaking to witnesses in the area at the time.
A site survey has been completed and the road is now open.
