In this week’s “Cafe De Rene”, Simon Gotch shared his experience of being fired from WWE.

“I was told early on by Bray Wyatt who was always very sweet, he said, ‘Never talk to Vince. Vince won’t like your personality and it wouldn’t behoove you to talk to him directly.

“I’ve reached the point where I’d rather get fired than have to do this. Use me or fire me, but don’t make me stay in limbo. I can’t do this. It was the one thing I couldn’t do. I couldn’t sit around thinking when I was going to get fired. You have to fire me or use me because I can’t do that.

“So I walked in and talked to Vince. I tilted an angle. He seemed to like it, and I got fired two weeks later.

“For the sake of my own mental health, I needed this to happen. I think if I stayed longer it would have just gotten worse. I was never a heavy drinker. I was never a substance guy. But I was getting to the point in the last few months where I was drinking just a little bit more than I should have after the gigs. I was just sleeping a little later than I should have been when I was home I was getting to the point where I didn’t necessarily recognize what was going on specifically yet, but I knew there was something wrong going on You start seeing the signs of depression before you even know that there you are, and I needed a change.

“I got home and noticed a missed call from Mark Carano. I spoke to him for a few seconds and the line he used was, ‘Vince thinks your character has run its course and we’d like to exercise the release clause of your contract.” I said, ‘Okay,’ because at that point I wasn’t going to try to fight it. I started talking to people I knew , I got reservations and went from there.
