Anyanwu further noted that the alleged indigenous doctors were arrested in connection with the relentless attacks on police formations/personnel and government establishments, as well as grooming their cohorts with charms during such despicable attacks.

He said the thugs attacked and killed a police officer attached to the Ebonyi State Police Command, whose name has not yet been identified.

He said: “A joint operation of the Tactical Operations Teams of Ebonyi State Police Command, Army and DSS has embarked on an operation to root out the hibernating criminals in a camp at Isu Onicha.

“This was in the aftermath of an attack on a police patrol team last night in which a policeman was coldly murdered by the thugs.

“Due to the joint team’s superior firepower, some of the bullet-wounded thugs rushed to escape in different directions. The team then combed the bush and recovered two AK-47 rifles with a few cartridges of their ammunition and three corpses of the assailants.

“The team traveled to the main miscreant enclave and, after a thorough ransack, recovered further exhibits,” he said.
